Congratulations to the
Techs of the Year:

Mike Godere, COT,
Mellody Eld, COT,
April Nunn Morris, COT

In 2007 RMOP began recognizing the outstanding work of our members. Each year we ask for nominees from each region. This year we are pleased to be able to honor three outstanding technicians. These individuals were nominated by their peers and/or employers, are certified, have worked in field for over five years and are RMOP members. Each person receives $100 and a certificate of excellence for themselves and their office.

Northern Colorado - Mike Godere, COT
Mike has worked at the Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado since 2003 after graduating from PIMA Medical Institute. His exceptional knowledge allowed him to quickly pass his COT exam.
Michael is an outstanding technician for many reasons. His knowledge and attention to detail; he knows what to do, when to do it and why he is doing it. He has an extraordinary way of connecting with  patients. He remembers their names and their eye conditions when they return to the clinic for follow up appointments. He is respected by patients for his knowledge and caring manner. Mike is always ready to learn, take on new challenges and help people understand. His dedication to his work is second to none, he never says no to taking on a new challenge. Mike loves to share his knowledge and passion for ophthalmology. This is demonstrated by his commitment to RMOP as a program coordinator. He is a great team player with excellent skills and is great with supporting the technician group at the Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado.

Denver Metro - Mellody Eld, COT
Mellody has been in the ophthalmology field for over 30 years. She started her career as an optician in Texas for 20 years then found herself in Colorado and again involved in eye care. She was talked into being a technician and was ready for a challenge, quickly becoming certified and a member of RMOP. Working in all fields of eyecare (glaucoma, refraction/retinoscopy, testing & triage) she has excelled with a great proficiency. She is dependable, a team player and always a good sport. She is our girl Friday — well, actually all days of our work week. Fun fact: One of her cats named Sybil has nystagmus and is cross eyed, so she takes care to watch him as well for any eye changes
.
Southern CO - April Nunn Morris, COT
April has been in the field of ophthalmology for over 16 years as the right hand of Dr. Dewey. She is a master of patient care and excels in her attention to detail, including understanding the interaction of patient medication and their eye drops. Over the past couple of years April has been recognized formally as being the lead in the office. She has done an outstanding job in providing the glue that holds the staff together during transitions such as the switch to electronic medical records.
