A salary survey was mailed out in June. Since then we received more responses which has made a significant difference in the result. Please use the updated survey for reference. We received 117 responses as of 9/1/06.
In general, uncertified, COA, COT and COMT positions perform the same jobs which include:
- Histories
- Visual Acuity
- Tonometry
- Refractometry
- Visual Fields
- Topography
- A Scans
- Patient check in and out
- Filing and phone screening
Personnel performing the following skills received a higher wage:
- Fluorescein Angiography
- B-scans
- OCT
- Special testing such as ERG, EOG etc.
- Surgical Assisting
- Managers
Number of years in the field does not seem to effect salary.
Benefits were pretty equal across the state and included:
- Personal Health insurance
- Long term disability
- Paid vacation
- Paid sick or personal days
- 401 K
- Discounted eye exams and eye wear
- Discounted refractive surgery
